The Counseling & Learning Center is the premier counseling and educational service provider for children, adolescents, couples, families, and individuals in the Middle Tennessee area.
Our services include counseling and therapy, testing and evaluation, educational interventions, group counseling, parent training, and workshops.
CLC offers a broad range of services through three highly trained, licensed practitioners.
Dr. Aimee Lyst has been practicing for over 15 years and is the founder and director of the Counseling & Learning Center and specializes in work with children and adolescents, learning problems, developmental disorders, and all child mental health issues. Dr. Lyst employs many different modalities of therapeutic treatment including cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy with children. She excels at evaluation aimed at differential diagnosis of various disorders.
Dr. Mary Payne utilizes a primarily cognitive-behavioral therapy approach in her work with children, adolescents and families. Dr. Payne provides services for a variety of emotional and behavioral disorders and interventions to maximize adjustment to chronic medical conditions.
Sricharan Moturi MD., M.P.H.predominant clinical focuses include areas of Sleep Disorders, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ ADHD), Mood& Anxiety Disorders, Early-onset Psychotic Disorders and Psychopharmacology (medication use); both in adults and pediatric population. Dr. Moturi considers to have been fortunate for receiving training from great academic faculty both in Birmingham and Chicago, and wishes to apply this knowledge and expertise towards helping adults, children and families troubled by mental illnesses and sleep disorders. He terms his approach to treatment of sleep and psychiatric disorders as “client-centered” and “holistic” and strives to involve the individual as well as family in collective decision-making in treatment. He believes in constant interaction with other professionals (school teachers, pediatricians etc.) during the diagnostic and treatment process. He is quite mindful of socio-cultural and spiritual beliefs of families when treatment options are discussed. He helps families understand the need for sleep-related diagnostic studies, when deemed appropriate and will arrange for those sleep studies. Dr. Moturi also offers individual/ family therapy sessions or can provide therapy referrals.
Kim Anderson works with families, couples, women, adolescents and children through a family systems approach, integrating cognitive behavioral therapy and solution-focused techniques. Kim enjoys working with a variety of clients and specializes in the areas of relationship issues, family conflict, and adolescent challenges. Kim’s training allows her to help clients resolve difficulties from the past that inhibit an individual’s ability to function fully in the present.
Our shared mission revolves around providing comprehensive services to our community by working collaboratively with local professionals, educators, physicians, and others who are involved in the care and treatment of those families and individuals who seek our assistance. Our practice is focused on the emotional, social, behavioral, and educational needs of all persons from early childhood through the significant transitions that life takes all of us.
